At OCWA – Central New York’s Water Authority – leak identification is part of our ongoing proactive preventative maintenance program.
Our team is out in the community using advanced acoustic and digital technology to detect and repair hidden leaks–saving water, protecting infrastructure, and keeping your service reliable!
Data is collected from pressure and flow sensors installed throughout our water system and is continuously sent back to our operations center where it is analyzed by our computer monitoring system and by our operators who are on the job 24/7. Abnormal readings are further investigated by OCWA’s leak detection staff who are trained to use high precision sensors and acoustic equipment to pinpoint the location of potential leaks. Identified leaks are reported to our Distribution team for repair.
While we have technology to help us identify leaks, observation is also a valuable tool. If you see something odd, such as a puddle or unexplained standing water during a stretch of dry weather, let us know at 315-455-7061 ext. 3120 or after business hours at 315.475.7601.
