OCWA – Central New York’s Water Authority – announced the availability of its interactive Service Line Inventory map which was completed to inform its customers and comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. The inventory, which can be reached through OCWA’s website here, provides the location of every utility side and customer side water service line in OCWA’s service area and specifies whether the construction material of each water service line is non-lead, lead, galvanized, or unknown. The inventory was submitted to the New York State and Onondaga County Departments of Health ahead of the EPA’s October 16th deadline.
OCWA is committed to combating lead in drinking water. That is why OCWA is actively working alongside the EPA to educate consumers about the health effects of lead and provide steps that can be taken to reduce lead in drinking water.
In addition, OCWA is encouraging customers whose service line construction material is unknown to report the material to OCWA through its website, or to schedule a 5-minute visit with an OCWA employee to have the material identified.
