Members of OCWA’s government affairs team joined water leaders from across the nation at the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) 2024 Water Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. (3/19-22) to hear from experts on key federal issues impacting the water industry and to advocate for legislation and funding to include water infrastructure funding, lead service line replacements, and the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP).  OCWA also met with many of our federal representatives and/or staff members from New York to include Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, Congressman Paul Tonko, Congressman Brandon Williams, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.  These representatives heard from OCWA and other public water utilities about what pieces of legislation and policy decisions could benefit our water systems and the customers we serve.
OCWA Executive Director Jeff Brown is on the board of AMWA – an organization of the largest publicly owned water utilities in the United States. AMWA is the voice of metropolitan water systems on federal water policy issues, and its programs foster sustainable, innovative utility management.
