On July 26th, more than 60 students and adult volunteers visited the OCWA — Central New York’s Water Authority — Otisco Lake Water Treatment Plant, as part of the TACNY STEM Trekkers summer program. TACNY stands for the Technology Alliance of Central New York and the summer program is free and open to Central New York students entering 6th-9th grades with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and/or math. The program provides participants with interactive learning opportunities with a focus on environmental engineering and robotics engineering.
OCWA is always pleased to partner with organizations like TACNY to help teach our youth about the types of jobs that are available in the field and ways they can help protect and preserve our water resources. We were delighted at how interested the students were in learning more about how we treat, test, and deliver safe water to our customers.
