The Onondaga County Water Authority was honored to receive First Place in the New York Section American Water Works Association’s Best Drinking Water Competition for its Lake Ontario water entry. The competition consisted of a panel of judges who scored utilities on the following categories: taste; odor; color; clarity; mouth feel; and aftertaste. The winner will compete at the AWWA’s national competition in Canada this summer. We are also pleased to report that OCWA’s water submission from Otisco tied for Third Place in the contest.

OCWA also took home the NYSAWWA Safety Award. The winning utility is selected for outstanding initiative in the area of safety improvement and injury prevention.

The NYSAWWA Annual Water Event took place in Saratoga, NY, from April 11-13, 2023.  There were several activities, events, and panel discussions as part of the programming.  OCWA employees and hundreds of other members from water utilities throughout the state and exhibitors attended the event.
