Along with other large water utilities from across the nation, OCWA took part in the American Water Works Association’s Water Matters! Fly-In in Washington, D.C. from March 22-23, 2023.

The advocacy event included meetings with U.S. senators and representatives to discuss various policies and legislative items affecting water systems across the county.  AWWA’s Water Utility Council (WUC) hosts the annual event to advance the Association’s legislative agenda on Capitol Hill and elevate AWWA and its members as expert sources of information on water issues. Sections coordinate their state’s delegations. The New York Team’s meetings included U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Representatives Nicholas Langworthy, Marc Molinaro, Joseph Morelle, Pat Ryan, Elise Stefanik, Claudia Tenney, Paul Tonko, and Brandon Williams.
