In preparation for the new year, many people start thinking about their resolutions. A common resolution is improving one’s health. One of the easiest ways to improve your health is by drinking enough water. Every person is different in terms of how much water they need and should consult with their health care provider, but generally people need about six to eight glasses of water per day.
Water is so important to our health because it makes up 50 to 80% of our body weight. According to the CDC, water helps our bodies do the following important things:
- Keep a normal temperature.
- Lubricate and cushion joints.
- Protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues.
- Get rid of wastes.[i]
Drinking enough water also helps to prevent dehydration, which makes people feel tired.
The best way to drink more water is to make a habit out of it by carrying a reusable water bottle with you everywhere you go. You can also set a reminder on your phone to drink water during the day.
OCWA is composed of a dedicated, professional workforce that is committed to continuing to provide our customers with a safe and reliable drinking water supply.
