The Lake Ontario Water Treatment Plant Project is one of our largest projects. So as the tank work progresses expect to see a transition to the major overhaul of our largest WTP. Shown here is the progress on the conversion of our solids contact clarifier into a rectangular contact basin. Experience showed that the plant didn’t need clarification and piloting showed that the filters actually operate better with a more organized baffled contact basin. So three clarifiers becomes six contact basins courtesy of a tremendous amount of formwork and pumped concrete. Nicholas Hyde, P.E., BCEE is managing the engineering and Cory McCarthy is managing OCWAs interests. The amazing work of regional 1967 thinking to benefit the community transitions into a modern treatment plant to keep the legacy going and benefit the next generation of Central NY with world class water for people and business alike.
