As part of the Onondaga County Water Authority’s (OCWA) ongoing effort to provide reliable water service to fire departments operating in our five-county service territory, we are happy to report that our staff exercised and/or serviced 99.8% of our 13,552 hydrants during 2021. We are proud to serve over 350,000 residents and 94 fire departments/districts throughout Central New York, and we appreciate the strong partnership we enjoy with you to help keep Central New Yorkers safe.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to offer on-site training once again for you and your staffs on how to efficiently access and employ water from our system. This training has been well received in the past and entails our providing detailed information about the OCWA water system in your area to promote the transfer of system knowledge and experience.
We are available to provide training sessions at your location Monday through Saturday, any time between 9 am and 9 pm. OCWA staff will provide a short 15-minute presentation, followed by an interactive discussion about system mapping, flow testing data, cold weather operations, etc.
Please consider including OCWA’s free training as part of your next monthly meeting or scheduling a special training session. For additional information or to schedule a training session, please contact Michael Oemcke via email at moemcke@ocwa.org or by phone at 315-455-7061 x 3173. We look forward to working with you to support your vital mission.
