FAIRMOUNT RESERVOIR AND WORK CENTER

313 HINSDALE ROAD, TOWN OF CAMILLUS

JANUARY 2022

Since the groundbreaking in April of 2021, the Contractor at our Fairmount Reservoir facility has stayed on schedule and has completed the first of two new concrete water storage tanks. The new East Tank officially went into service on January 14th, 2022 and is operating well. Work has now moved towards the West Tank and involves a significant amount of earth moving to prepare for the foundation. In addition to the earth work, the Contractor has scheduled the demolition of the existing tank beginning January 31, 2022. The demolition involves the cutting, bending, and handling of the aluminum (roof) and steel (walls and floor) components of the old tank. There will be some loud noises that are unavoidable with the steel tank demolition as the machinery processes the material into manageable pieces for removal from the site and recycling. The Contractor has estimated a total of ten weeks of work to fully demolish the tank. We expect that the noisiest parts of the work will be in the first few weeks as the standing pieces are brought to the ground.

New East Tank in Operation – 6 Million Gallons

Existing Tank to be Demolished – 10 Million Gallons
