OCWA’s water main relocation project along Route 11 in Brewerton has advanced from Bartel Road to Guy Young Road. At this point, OCWA anticipates relocating to E. Washington Street. We will complete the portion of the water main relocation along E. Washington Street between Kathan Road and Route 11.
Towards the end of the week, we will then move to the north end of the project at Bennett Street and Route 11 and from there we will proceed south to Guy Young Rd.
At this point, we only anticipate lane shifts for traffic control. Once the new water main along Route 11 has been installed, we will need to drop back and bore underneath Route 11 at the side streets. For the safety of the crews, we anticipate that portions of theses side streets will be closed and detoured while we complete the bores. We will give advanced notice to any street closures and detours while construction is ongoing.
OCWA would also like to inform you of our construction work, and how it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Cuomo’s Executive order 202.6. states that New York State has issued a directive that water and wastewater construction projects are considered essential and thus our construction work is continuing. Regardless of the state directive, the Route 11 watermain project is an important and essential project as it will provide reliable and improved water service and fire protection to the Brewerton community.
Both D.E. Tarolli and OCWA would like to thank the residents for their continued patience during the construction phase.
