Extreme Cold Weather Leads to Frozen Water Service Lines – Customers Urged to Take Preventive Measures
Due to the extreme cold weather being experienced throughout Central New York some OCWA customers have lost water service due to frozen water meters and water services.
If you reside in an area where you have experienced loss of service during extreme weather conditions in the past you may want to take preventive measures to ensure continued service and avoid the costs associated with thawing a frozen water service line.
To avoid loss of service, due to frozen lines, please allow one faucet to run on a continuous basis. A continuous stream of water, slightly smaller than a pencil diameter, is needed to prevent service lines from freezing.
This notice will remain posted until conditions moderate sufficiently to allow return to normal operating conditions.
Thank you for your cooperation during this extreme weather event.
